MISA Lifestyle Support Program
NEWS: MISA Closed!
The MISA Lifestyle Support Program assisted hundreds of people in the local area living with a mental illness compounded by alcohol or drug use. Over the five years of operation MISA had made its way into the hearts of the people that it helped find a voice and a sense of connection in the community.
As from 30 June 2010 the MISA Lifestyle Support Program no longer operates. To lobby for its re-instatement write to your local paper, petition your federal member of parliament, or write to the Prime Minister, Ms Julia Gillard, Parliament House, Suite MG 41, Canberra ACT 2600.
The following information refers to the MISA program before its closure.
The MISA (Mental Illness Substance Abuse) Lifestyle Support Program is a community based outreach service for people with a mental illness who are concerned about the impact of their drug and alcohol use.
MISA is an outreach programs hosted by The Buttery Incorporated and funded by The Australian Government Attorney General's Department under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
MISA runs programs in various localities on the Far North Coast region of NSW and covers the area bordered approximately by Tweed Heads, Ballina and Lismore.
MISA works both independently as well as in partnership with other Government and Non-Government organisations.
