Who can access MISA?
The MISA Lifestyle Program offers support for people who are affected by dual diagnosis. This means for those who had been diagnosed with a mental illness such as:
• schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders,
• mood disorders e.g. bipolar,
• anxiety disorders / depression,
• mental illness due to a medical condition
AND
• whos drug and alcohol use may affect their mental well being
What does MISA do?
MISA offers a range of support and intervention programs such as:
• Support groups in the community
• Clinic groups
• Individual support
• Support for families and carers
• Drug and alcohol assessments
• Community education and awareness raising projects
• Activity programs
• Early intervention programs
Examples of current programs:
• Jumpstart Groups: Weekly support groups in Lismore, Ballina & Tweed Heads
• Just Chill’n - Youth Group in Tweed Heads
• Breaking Free - Women’s Group in Murwillumbah
• Involvement in school based programs like Expect Respect
• Mental Health Week awareness raising activities
